Role Description

The Department of Archaeology at the University of York is seeking to appoint a Post-doctoral Researcher as a member of an ERC-funded project, named DISPERSE: Dynamic Landscapes, Coastal Environments and Human Dispersals, led by Professor Geoff Bailey.

The project is concerned with landscape reconstruction in the early time ranges of human dispersal in relation to tectonically active and coastal regions, with a focus on the Arabian sector of the southern Red Sea.

This post is concerned with the evolutionary trajectory of hominin adaptations in relation to patterns of dispersal and landscape variability. We are looking for an individual with a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field of knowledge, and experience of human osteological analysis and digital mapping. The researcher will be expected to conduct overseas fieldwork as a member of the DISPERSE team.
