We are seeking an organized, proactive Student Services Administrator to join our collaborative Professional Services team. In this role, you will support taught students in York Law School and the Department of Sociology through every stage of their academic journey, from induction to graduation.
You will serve as a key point of contact for students and academic staff, handling complex queries and managing core administrative processes. A significant focus of this position centers on assessment administration, requiring strong attention to detail and a clear understanding of university regulations and program structures.
With the ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst managing conflicting priorities, the role-holder will be expected to provide high levels of customer service at all times with a friendly, approachable, ‘can-do’ attitude.
While primarily focused on taught programs within these two vibrant academic departments, this is a versatile role. You will work flexibly across team boundaries, offering support to colleagues during peak operational periods.
Some flexibility may be possible around working hours, and the Faculty operates a flexi time system. Some hybrid (remote) working may be accommodated following a successful probation period, and depending on the requirements and deliverables of the role.
Deliver end-to-end administrative support across the student lifecycle, providing approachable, high-quality customer service to students and staff. Ensuring student records are up to date and accurate.
Coordinate and process student assessments and feedback, ensuring full compliance with departmental policies and University regulations.
Act as a subject matter expert on program structures and policies to resolve detailed student and staff inquiries efficiently.
Identify opportunities to streamline administrative workflows, share best practices across teams, and enhance communication channels.
Maintain flexibility to assist wider Student Services team during busy academic cycles or staff absences.
Experience of working in a varied administrative role effectively balancing competing priorities
Experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service to a range of stakeholders
Experience of setting up and managing complex spreadsheets
Use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office
Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
