The Student Data and Management Information team (SDMI) are at the centre of student data use at the University and we want to make sure the student journey is supported by great quality data processes that operate seamlessly in the background, helping everyone at the University support students to achieve their best outcomes. The team’s core work covers five areas – 1. Management and delivery of statutory returns to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA); 2. Student Loans Company (SLC) record management; 3. Curriculum data management in the student record system (SITS); 4. Data and system support for the University's Careers service; 5. Specialist data compliance advice to the Apprenticeships service. The team also helps manage legislative elements that govern our work, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Freedom of Information requests.
The Senior Student MI Analyst will have an opportunity to learn and work on developing solutions in support of delivering services across our core external returns portfolio, with a particular focus on managing and delivering the University’s main statutory ‘Student’ return to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). It’s an exciting time for this data return as it’s subject to a major sector wide change, known as Data Futures. This role will work alongside data specialists and other members of the SDMI team to embed changes from this project in to our normal cycle of work, including opportunities to learn and develop solutions in technologies new to the team (such as Alteryx and Tableau).
