The Directorate of Estates is responsible for ‘providing outstanding work, study, research facilities, and facilities to enhance the student experience, on campus and online’.
This role is part of the Estates Development team within Estates. Estates Development has the responsibility for delivering construction, infrastructure and other projects in line with the University’s Vision while protecting the overall campus masterplan.
This role is part of the Estates Development team, and will report to the Assistant Director: Capital Development.
The Senior Programme Manager will provide commercial and technical assurance across the portfolio of Estates Development projects that emanate from the Integrated Infrastructure Plan. The role will have responsibility for the smooth coordination of the programme of work. Projects vary from complex refurbishment projects through to major redevelopment and new build schemes. The role also offers the chance for an individual to gain enhanced leadership experience, with responsibility for leading and managing the Cost Manager. The Senior Programme Manager will be the lead for developing procurement packages and management of the external supply chain for Estates Development projects.
Overseeing the delivery of the capital programme, working closely with the Assistant Director: Capital Development and Senior Project Manager to ensure that a coherent programme of projects is planned and delivered.
Ensure the appropriate processes and supply chain arrangements are in place for the delivery of the programme.
Preparation of comprehensive procurement documentation to support Estates Development projects.
Ensuring that quality standards are met across all projects for aspects including design, sustainability, cost, programme and health & safety.
Have the ability to take programme level oversight and governance responsibility for the effective delivery of capital projects from inception to completion and occupation.
Lead on the reporting of the status of projects and the overall programme.
Liaise with the wider Estates team to ensure that the organisation complies with and meets best practice in relation to Health & Safety Procedures and other relevant legislation.
Lead and manage the Cost Manager.
Working with the Cost Manager, lead on planning, managing and reporting on financial elements of the programme and preparation of cost estimates.
