The research technician position is available for up to 24 months working in the group of Prof Gavin Thomas at the Department of Biology. You will support ongoing research in understanding the function of IM30 proteins in protecting biological membranes from different stresses within evolutionary divergent microbial lineages. Utilising a diverse range of techniques in microbial biochemistry and molecular microbiology, you will investigate the interactions between these proteins and their ability to rescue vital membrane functions. You will join a multi-disciplinary project funded by the sLoLa BBSRC award, led by the University of York with collaborators at the Universities of Nottingham, Newcastle and Cambridge.
