Over the next few years, 2 million Universal Credit claimants will have their claims reviewed by the Department for Work & Pensions as part of the ‘Targeted Case Review’ programme. This post is part of a collaboration between the Welfare Benefits Unit and the Administrative Fairness Lab - funded by the Legal Education Foundation - to examine the roll out and claimant experiences of this Targeted Case Review process.
The Research Fellow will lead this project - responsibilities will include:
Lead research into claimant experiences of the DWP's Targeted Case Review programme, including designing and implementing appropriate research methodologies to capture the experiences of Universal Credit claimants undergoing review.
Analysing and evaluating the implementation and impact of the Targeted Case Review process, producing detailed research findings and recommendations for stakeholders including policymakers, legal professionals, and advocacy groups.
Build relationships with relevant organisations and stakeholders and disseminate findings effectively to both academic and non-academic audiences.
Develop research outputs that contribute to understanding how administrative justice operates in practice, particularly focusing on claimant experiences of welfare benefit review processes.
Provide expert legal analysis of emerging patterns and issues in the Targeted Case Review rollout to inform both academic discourse and practical policy implementation.
