Role Description

York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC) is a prestigious health economics consulting company owned by the University of York. We provide high-quality research and consultancy to the pharmaceutical industry, medical device manufacturers, and the public sector. As we expand our Medical Communications services, we are looking for a skilled Research Consultant – Medical Writer to join our multi-disciplinary team.

The Role

In this role, you will lead and execute high-quality medical writing activities across a diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives for a variety of audiences, including regulatory bodies (NICE/SMC/NCPE), clinicians, and payers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HTA Deliverables: Lead the development of HTA dossiers, technical modelling reports, and review protocols.
  • Content Creation: Plan and write project reports, manuscripts, conference abstracts, posters, and digital media content.
  • Qualitative Research: Conduct expert opinion interviews and thematic analysis.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside health economists and systematic reviewers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Strategic Input: Contribute to research proposals and define project scopes (PICO).

Requirements

  • Education: Degree-level qualification in a scientific discipline or English Language/Linguistics.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a medical writer/editor OR completion of a post-graduate research programme (applicants close to completion will be considered).
  • Technical Skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and EndNote.
  • Attributes: Exceptional communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex writing projects for the pharmaceutical industry.
