Directorate of Technology, Estates & Facilities (DTEF) provides services and facilities to staff, students and visitors.
Within DTEF, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) has responsibility for all aspects of residential and non-residential cleaning across the University. Our role is 'to provide services and facilities to the core business of the University and the wider University community’.
As part of the RRT, you will be responsible for providing a rapid response cleaning service to all areas of University premises. You will carry out planned deep-cleaning work across the campus, including the use of specialised equipment and working from heights.
You will be required to respond flexibly to requests for room set ups, furniture moves and the collection and disposal of goods, providing a reactive campus wide service, as well as responding to emergency situations such as flooding, including the use of specialised equipment. There will also be a requirement for experience and aptitude in minor maintenance work.
You will have daily contact with students, staff, contractors and guests and should therefore have excellent communication skills, including active listening skills, to understand customers' requirements.
Due to the nature of the work, you will be required to be on your feet for the duration of the shift and must have the ability to carry out significant manual handling duties such as using heavy floor cleaning machinery and moving furnishings such as beds, desks and white goods across the estate.
You will be required to undertake driving duties of lightweight University vehicles and commercial vans around the estate as required and be responsible for furniture moves and room set-ups around campus. It is therefore essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and have the ability to drive a high sided LWB transit type van.
Regular working hours are assigned, however, in order to maintain flexibility the team are at times and when operationally necessary, required to work flexibly between the hours of 07:00 and 20:00 on any 5 days out of 7 including weekends and public holidays. Hours of work are confirmed in advance via a rota.

Full UK driving licence

Experience of carrying out basic maintenance task
