Department
The Forensic Speech Science (FSS) group within the Department of Language and Linguistic Science at York has been awarded funding to set up the capability to generate revenue by conducting forensic speech and audio casework, delivery of continuing professional development courses, and developing services to support private forensic speech and audio laboratories through accreditation.
Role
We are seeking a full-time Quality and Accreditation Manager for a fixed term of two years to:
- Support the FSS team leads and Support Staff in developing documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, risk assessments) required to undertake forensic casework in line with the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice and Conduct as well as international standards
- Work in partnership with academic leads on accreditation, quality assurance and enhancement projects
- Lead quality enhancement and ongoing policy developments in light of accreditation requirements, taking account of the needs of service users
- Champion accreditation within the field for FSS more widely, working directly with team leads to enhance understanding and engagement outside of the University, and collaborating with national and international stakeholders
- Act as a main point of contact on quality management and accreditation enquiries, becoming the expert go-to person for staff and external contacts
- Work with FSS team leads to develop services to support accreditation of privative forensic speech and audio laboratories, as well as developing training courses on quality management and accreditation

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles involved in the provision of forensic science evidence
- Knowledge and understanding of the forensic science sector and potential changes within the sector
- Knowledge and understanding of forensic science regulation, accreditation, and quality management both nationally and internationally
- Experience of writing accreditation document for compliance with forensic regulation
