Role Description

The Role

Are you excited about developing your career in prospect research? Join our growing Prospect Research team at the University of York and help to build a best-in-sector approach to prospect research and pipeline management. The Prospect Research team is developing innovative methods and taking on a critical role in the rapid expansion of fundraising and volunteering at the University of York.

As a Prospect Research Officer, you will be part of the Operations and Experience team, within the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA). You will be responsible for leading a relationship with one of our Fundraising Teams, specialising your research and pipeline development in either the sector of Individual Philanthropy or Corporations, Foundations and Trusts. Additionally, you will help provide other research services including philanthropic due diligence.

This is an exciting time to be joining our team. The University is embarking upon delivering its mission to become a University for Public Good and has just made a significant investment to increase philanthropy and alumni engagement over the next 10 years as we look to establish a more representative and inclusive community.

We are looking for people with:

  • Enthusiasm and determination; a desire to develop new techniques and contribute to building a sector-leading team
  • Great interpersonal skills, people who are able to work collaboratively and lead strong working relationships
  • Experience of identifying and researching prospective donors, clients or customers
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to write concisely and persuasively
  • Experience of analysing and summarising data
  • Excellent professional judgement and discretion

Please see the attached job description for the full list of essential and desirable criteria; we ask that you cover all of these in your application.
