Department of Health Sciences

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York as Programme Manager for the COPE-BP study: Community Pharmacies Managing Hypertension in Bangladesh and Pakistan. This role is key to delivering the programme, overseeing its coordination and progress. The study aims to develop and evaluate a community pharmacy-based intervention to improve hypertension care in low-income urban populations, addressing a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases that remains underdiagnosed and untreated in these regions.

The post offers the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary Department, renowned for its methodological expertise and its commitment to policy and practice relevant teaching and research across a broad range of health-related disciplines.  The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team with expertise in various methodologies underpinning applied health research. There are also exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary research with an extensive network of academic partners.

Role

The Programme Manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator, senior researchers, and the wider team assisting with the coordination of research activities across multiple countries. They will oversee all aspects of the COPE-BP programme, ensuring efficient implementation of research activities across multiple countries. Responsibilities include managing research deliverables, organising fieldwork logistics, overseeing resources, liaising with international partners, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, preparing reports, ensuring ethical compliance, and assisting with funding applications.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

The ideal candidate will have proven programme/project management experience, preferably in international or multi-country research settings. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills are essential, along with experience managing large-scale research projects and fieldwork. A relevant undergraduate qualification and knowledge of research methods would be an advantage.  The role may involve international travel to support study activities across research sites.
