Role Description

We have ambitious plans to open a campus in Mumbai, connected to local industry and business, and dedicated to the extraordinary dynamism of Maharashtra. Bringing the ‘York experience’ to this energetic city, at the heart of this dynamic and vibrant country. The University of York Mumbai is set to welcome students from the academic year 2026/27. It will initially offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in computer science with AI and cybersecurity, business, economics, and creative industries.

About the Role:

As a Professor of Practice in Culture and Creative Technologies will bring extensive real-world expertise and leadership from industry into academia. Your role will focus on bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enriching the curriculum, and enhancing research through applied experience. You will inspire students with contemporary industry insights, foster professional networks, and contribute to cutting-edge projects within the vibrant fields of culture and creative technologies. Key responsibilities include delivering practice-led teaching, mentoring students, engaging in applied research and development, and building strong links with industry partners.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Exceptional Industry Leadership: Possess a PhD or equivalent, with outstanding achievements and a significant contribution to your field at national and international levels.
  • Deep Applied Expertise: Demonstrate substantial knowledge and a proven track record in Culture and Creative Technologies with expertise that complements and enhances our ambitions and strategy.
  • Impactful Research & Translation: Ability to lead a significant program of impact-focused research, translating insights into real-world applications and outcomes.
  • Proven Funding Acumen: A track record of securing funding through successful bids and collaborative grants with business and industry partners.
  • Strategic Networking & Mentorship: Strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships with industry, and a commitment to mentoring colleagues and students with industry perspectives.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: Evidence of an entrepreneurial approach, identifying and capitalising on opportunities for innovation and collaboration between academia and industry.
