Hull York Medical School is a collaboration between the Universities of Hull and York and the NHS. The school operates from both University campuses and within teaching hospitals and medical practices throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. Our courses include the undergraduate Medicine (MB BS) programme and a number of postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes.
The Postgraduate Research Administrator leads in the coordination of a variety of postgraduate research (PGR) programmes, including the MD in Medical Sciences, PhD in Medical or Human Sciences ,and MSc in Medical or Human Sciences (by thesis). You will take administrative responsibility for all aspects of the student life-cycle of PGR programmes, such as pre-admissions, admissions, maintaining student records and updating course information and handbooks. Additionally, you will be the first point of contact for students, and provide general administrative support to academic colleagues as well as the wider postgraduate programme team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with academic, clinical, and administrative colleagues across and beyond the Universities of Hull and York. This role will therefore be required to establish good working relationships with academic and professional staff within and beyond the Universities, including managing relationships with external partners.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in HE administration, who can work flexibly to deliver a high-quality service to students. Ideally, you will have a good understanding of the particular needs of postgraduate research students. You’ll need to be organised with a keen eye for detail and able to use your initiative to solve problems. As you’ll be dealing with students and staff on a daily basis, you must be a great communicator and have the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of people across multiple organisations.
