We are seeking to appoint 2 x Post-Award Grant Officers for a 12-month fixed term period to join our Faculty of Sciences Post-Award teams.
The primary role of a Post-Award Grant Officer is managing a portfolio of standard research (and research-related) grants from a range of external funders which may include UKRI research councils, charities, government or industry. You will have responsibility for monitoring the finances, reporting, contracts and compliance for these grants in line with University and funder requirements. On a standard day you may liaise with a broad range of parties, including: funders, academics, contracts teams, HR, department colleagues, professional support staff, research partners and other HEI collaborators. Across FROs, you will manage shared mailboxes and work flexibly to provide a proactive service to respond to queries, resolve issues, monitor project budgets and proactively communicate with academics to ensure projects are managed effectively and funds are spent in line with regulations.
The role would suit someone with a proactive approach, who can work independently within the support of a larger team. The individual should have experience of Higher Education processes and requirements, of working with a broad range of stakeholders and be able to evidence practical knowledge of managing complex budgets.
The Post-Award Faculty teams are well-established and offer a supportive environment. We provide a programme of training to onboard new starters and continuous training for existing staff to ensure that necessary standards of compliance are upheld. We offer various opportunities for development within the FRO teams, alongside the University’s comprehensive programme of centrally-run training.
This is an exciting development role with the opportunity to join an established and supportive high performing team to help deliver high quality and effectively resourced world-leading research.
