The new Operations Manager will join the Social Care Group within the School of Business & Society, which is playing a leading role in attracting national strategic investments in social care research infrastructure. This post arises from a new £5m award to a strategic research support centre across England, and complements York’s leadership of the NIHR School for Social Care Research and ‘The Curiosity Partnership’ which are promoting social care research capacity for the future. The group is a growing mix of research and professional support service staff, who provide a collegiate environment for developing and delivering our ambitious programmes.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to lead on the operational delivery of a new Specialist Centre for Social Care (www.nihr.ac.uk/news/new-centre-support-social-care-researchers-england). Working closely with the Centre’s Director and a York-based RSS Hub, and across research advisers in six other universities and four community organisations, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the structures and processes needed to deliver exceptional quality support to social care research teams. You will be a visible and leading figure in the Centre and will represent its interests in many national forums and in collaboration across other RSS Hubs and Specialist Centres across England.
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge of (applied) research in a related research field and funding frameworks
Experience of developing and managing operational plans at large scale
Experience of budget management including monitoring and reporting
Experience of managing competing demands across multiple stakeholders
Experience of line management and managing teams
Experience in communications, partnership development and collaborative working
