Student Education and Experience (SEE) works to enable an excellent experience for students during their time at the University of York, providing information, advice, guidance and support to students from enrolment through to graduation. SEE also provides advice and guidance to colleagues across the University who rely on its expertise and processes to support the student lifecycle. The work of the Service is also critical in ensuring that the University meets a number of statutory compliance duties.
The Student Administration section comprises c.60 staff who deliver a range of business critical services across eight key teams - Exams & Graduation, Visa Compliance, Complaints, Special Cases, Student Financial Support, Progression & Awards, Student Records and Operational Data Services. These final three teams are joined together under a division known as Student Data Services (SDS).
There are four core parts to the SDS team’s work:
1. Administration and delivery of the core student record, progression and awarding processes in the student record system (SITS)
2. Data management and delivery of statutory returns to various regulators;
3. Student Loans Company (SLC) record management
4. Curriculumdata management in SITS.
The team also helps manage legislative elements that govern our work, such as external policy guidance and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) related requests (including Freedom of Information).
This role is an Operational Data Services Officer who will have the opportunity to learn and work on delivering services across our core portfolio, which covers our Student Loans, statutory return and Curriculum data management work – carrying out business critical returns to SLC & HESA, providing day-to-day support, resolving problems as they arise and identifying areas for future improvement and development.
It is an exciting time for Student Loans services as we look to adopt the government’s new Lifelong Learning Entitlement student loan scheme, which will mean adapting our data processes to accommodate these new requirements. Your work will support the student journey and ensure that our student data management meets changing business needs and priorities.
