The Marketing, Recruitment , Admissions and Outreach (MRAO) team makes up part of the directorate of Global Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions (GRMA), recently formed to respond to the rapidly changing global and national student recruitment environment.
Intricately linked to the broader University strategy and mission, MRAO has a mandate to help shape the University’s future student populations and significantly increase York’s commitment to widening participation using a focused and integrated approach. We’re seeking a dynamic Content Marketing Manager to lead the development and delivery of the University’s content marketing strategy.
In this role, you’ll design and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students from the UK and overseas. Working closely with colleagues across the Marketing, Communications, and wider University teams, you’ll ensure our messages reach the right audiences in the right way.
You’ll be responsible for shaping engaging, audience-focused content, managing a Content Developer, and maintaining consistent branding and tone of voice across all platforms. With a strong understanding of the student journey and stakeholder needs, you’ll drive the content strategy, evaluate performance, and recommend data-driven improvements.
Develop and deliver multi-channel content marketing strategies to support student recruitment goals.
Create, manage, and optimise content across digital and print platforms.
Lead content governance and ensure adherence to brand guidelines and regulatory standards (including CMA).
Manage and mentor the Content Developer, fostering creativity and collaboration.
Monitor, analyse, and report on campaign and website performance, using insights to refine strategy.
Collaborate with internal teams to align content, data, and communications.
You’ll bring:
Significant experience in digital marketing, print production, and content management governance.
Strong skills in data analysis, website analytics, and copywriting.
An understanding of student recruitment marketing and market regulations.
Proven ability to manage projects, people, and stakeholders effectively.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
This is a part time post of 4.5 days per week, salary is pro rata.
Qualifications: Degree or equivalent experience, with a professional marketing qualification (e.g. CIM, DIM) preferred.
Content Strategy Leadership: Plan, create, and deliver engaging content across digital and print platforms to support student recruitment goals.
Collaboration and Campaign Alignment: Work collaboratively with internal teams to develop targeted, flexible marketing strategies and manage editorial calendars responsive to changing priorities.
Team Leadership: Manage and support Content Developers, ensuring high-quality, brand-consistent output while fostering a collaborative and positive team culture.
Content and Channel Optimisation: Streamline content processes, tailor messaging for diverse global audiences, and provide guidance on digital content best practices.
Insight-Driven Improvement: Use market research, analytics, and emerging digital trends to evaluate performance and continuously improve marketing effectiveness.
