Marketing and Communications Officer (York Festival of Ideas)

Role Description

The Events Office seeks to appoint a communications specialist to join the Events Team to manage the communications for the annual York Festival of Ideas. Reporting to the Head of Events and working closely with the Events Officers, the role holder will primarily work to support York Festival of Ideas (a two-week festival coordinated by the University taking place in June each year). The main duties of the role will include: writing and coordinating the Festival brochure, including managing the print schedule; writing content for the Festival web pages, and contributing to the Festival website build; creating content and managing the distribution of all Festival marketing materials; contributing to social media marketing; planning a photography schedule; drafting media releases; attending meetings as required, and helping to deliver events during the Festival. The successful applicant will have excellent writing and IT skills; be able to manage a workload to tight deadlines, and have exceptional attention to detail.

The role is an open contract, subject to external funding, and will require the role-holder to work full-time from November to the end of June each year.  

The role will necessitate working unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends, during the Festival.
