The Department of Chemistry is seeking to appoint an individual to the Inorganic chemistry section at Lecturer (Assistant Professor) level. Applications are welcome from candidates with research specialities in any area of inorganic chemistry. It is essential that the successful candidate can teach across all areas of inorganic chemistry at the undergraduate level.
The Department of Chemistry at York is one of the UK's leading Chemistry departments and is recognised for its internationally-leading research. It was placed 9th by GPA in the 2021 REF exercise (7th in Research Power). The Inorganic section of York Chemistry has a strong collegiate ethos, with research areas encompassing bioinorganic, catalysis, electrochemistry, hyperpolarisation, main group, materials, NMR spectroscopy, organometallics, and photochemistry.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished researcher with a proven track record in the field of inorganic chemistry appropriate for their career stage. The appointee will have a plan for developing an internationally competitive research programme and will also be expected to take on teaching and administrative responsibilities commensurate with the position.

Flexibility is offered and the role can be undertaken part-time by agreement. The post is available from 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants are required to upload a CV and a two-page description of research plans, which include required facilities, and how the candidate’s research will complement and enhance the Department whilst being distinct, identifying possible areas for collaboration in the Department and wider university.
Long-listed applicants will be invited to an online interview, which will include a 15-minute presentation on the candidate's research area suitable for an undergraduate audience. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an in-person interview.
