The condensed matter and materials physics (CMMP) group is seeking to establish new areas of research with a focus on experimental Quantum Transport. Candidates with an interest in topological phases of matter, spintronics, 2D van der Waal materials or strongly correlated systems are particularly encouraged to apply. We are looking for an exceptional candidate at Lecturer level with a proven track record of high impact publications. The successful candidate will make use of recent investment in equipment and establish research links across the CMMP group in areas such as spintronics and magnetism, nanomaterials and photonics.
The CMMP group is part of the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology that brings physicists and engineers together to push the frontiers of knowledge, foster innovation and meet the grand challenges facing society. Our aim is to deliver world-leading research in both fundamental and applied areas whilst developing new technologies that work for the public good, in an environment where everyone can thrive. As a School, equality, diversity, and inclusion are central to our culture and we strive to provide a working environment that allows all staff and students to contribute fully, to flourish, and to excel. We aim to ensure that there is a supportive and egalitarian culture at all levels and across all staff groups and offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, staff engagement forums, campus facilities and services to support staff from different backgrounds.
You will develop and lead a world-class research programme in an area within condensed matter physics focused on experimental quantum transport, including obtaining research funding, managing research teams, and producing high-quality research outputs. In addition, you will design and deliver teaching across a range of modules, act as academic supervisor of students and undertake administrative responsibilities across the School.
