The HR Operations Manager will report to the Assistant HR Director (Operations) and will play a key role in supporting the HR Strategy as part of the Senior HR Team.
The post holder will line manage a team of qualified HR Advisers / Officers. This will include day to day supervision of work and coaching/training. You will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the HR Operations team, regularly reviewing agreed service levels, quality and other metrics, identifying and implementing the necessary changes to improve service delivery.
You will be known as a trusted and expert employee relations adviser particularly in relation to the more challenging and complex people matters that may arise. You will forge strong professional relationships with senior managers and work in partnership with the University's recognised Trade Unions in a positive manner.
Hybrid Working arrangements; our offices are on the main University campus in Heslington; York, where you will be required to work a minimum of 1 day per week

Significant employee relations experience in an HR Advisory capacity
A thorough, up to date understanding of employment law and HR good practice
Experience of leading and contributing to large scale projects
Line manage, coach and empower a team of HR professionals
Excellent communication and highly developed interpersonal skills
Ability to work proactively with limited guidance and to self-imposed timescales
