Role Description
Department
We are recruiting two Graduate Engagement Leads to help support and grow the open research community of practice at the University of York. You will help us to accelerate the understanding and adoption of open research practices within your faculty and across the University, enabling you to expand your professional network, further your experience of collaborative working and make an important contribution to open research at York.
You will work with the Library’s Open Research team and the University’s Open Research Advocates network to organise and deliver training, events and advocacy materials and help to build a community of practice.
These job opportunities are open to PhD research students currently studying at York. The roles are 0.2 FTE, equivalent to 1 working day per week, although working times can be flexible. The roles are fixed term until 31 July 2025.
Role
- Organise and promote events and initiatives, including the annual round of York’s Open Research Awards scheme.
- Develop and deliver training and any associated advocacy materials and resources both within your faculty and more widely in collaboration with colleagues in other areas of the University.
- Work with the Library and others to identify and promote open research training and good practice.
- Coordinate activities and objectives for the Open Research Advocates network including regular meetings and help to recruit new members from within your faculty.
- Contribute to wider discussions of strategic and operational approaches to developing an open research culture across the University, working with members of the University Open Research Strategy and Operations Groups.
- Contribute to developing communication channels for open research at York including social media.
- Develop and maintain current awareness of open research at York and more widely with support from colleagues in the Open Research Team and through relevant training and events.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- Enthusiasm for raising the profile of open research across all University departments and disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills and experience of working professionally, and in collaboration, with a diverse range of people.
- An ability to effectively prioritise and manage your time.
- Excellent organisational skills and experience of organising events.
- Experience of developing and delivering training sessions and/or training materials.
- Good digital skills and a willingness to develop these further.
