Role Description

Department

The Finance Department is seeking to recruit a Finance Assistant to provide operational support to departments within the Management Accounting team.  This is a full-time role on an open contract and is ideal for anyone seeking finance experience in a large organisation.  We are currently operating a hybrid working arrangement with two days in the office and the remainder of the time can be worked at home or in the office. 

Role

The post holder will work within the Management Accounting team, reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner. The role will benefit from interaction with the wider Finance Department (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fees Office etc) but will also work collaboratively with academic staff and other support colleagues in the Management Accounting Team and departments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking and adaptable individual who can work well with a wide range of stakeholders. You will take part in providing effective and efficient management and coordination of the day-to-day financial operations, accounting services and systems for departments within Management Accounting. This role will appeal to someone who enjoys a variety of tasks and is proactive. You will need to work to a very high degree of accuracy and manage your own priorities.

The main duties of the roles include:

• Acting as a point of contact and responding to a wide range of financial enquiries from staff, the Finance Department, external suppliers and credit card companies
• Monitoring and processing departmental income, expenditure and payments across a wide range of departmental accounts
• Providing support to the management accounting team, including completing accruals and prepayment templates
• Maintaining an auditable financial filing system, accurately recording and processing financial transactions

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

• A finance qualification (e.g. AAT) is desirable but not essential
• You will be customer-focused, wanting to provide an excellent service to colleagues
• You will be able to maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, whilst also ensuring the department’s compliance with financial regulations 
• You will be able to communicate policies and procedures clearly
