This role sits within the IT Services department, which provides outstanding work, study, and research facilities, as well as facilities to enhance the student experience, both on campus and online. The Research and Faculty IT team support teaching and research within the University. This can range from 1:1 specialist support, helping users access all of our research systems to assisting with new applications.
The role requires close collaboration with colleagues across IT Services and the University to ensure our departmental embedded support services are: responsive, knowledge led, integrated and that high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
You will be embedded in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics to provide IT support for their teaching and research requirements. You will work closely with academics to understand their needs, and translate these into solutions that scale. You must be passionate about the benefits of technology and providing a good customer experience.
The core aim of the Research and Faculty IT team is to provide IT for academic departments that support teaching and research at the University of York.
The team supports key technologies including the support, management and development of Windows and Linux desktops across the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Sciences, this is a hand-on technical role where you will be embedded within the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics. The role holder will work closely with other parts of the Research and Faculty IT team as well as other teams with IT Services and to provide the best support for teaching and research.
The right person for this role will have an interest in technology, and above all be friendly, approachable, and flexible.
