We are seeking an Events and External Relations Coordinator to join our Administration Team working on a fixed term contract for up to 10.5 months to cover maternity leave in the portfolio of School of Arts and Creative Technologies (ACT) and the York School of Architecture (YSA). The post is offered on a fixed term or secondment basis to cover maternity leave between 0.8 to 1.0 FTE and will include some evening and weekend working.

You will coordinate all events taking place in School buildings, managing the events process from start to finish whilst also providing advice and support on all aspects of events organisation, to colleagues, students and external clients. As part of this role you will also coordinate and support the Schools’ commercial activities and oversee content and communication activities in the School of Arts and Creative Technologies and the School of Architecture.
You will work as part of the Administration Team that supports both Schools. You will work mainly in the TFTI Building on East Campus, with some home working as agreed. The postholder will sometimes be expected to work in the evenings and at weekends.
The role will be demanding and experience of organising complex events in a Performing Arts context is essential. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with staff, students and be confident in supervising small groups of people and delegating tasks as appropriate. Experience of working under pressure and on your own initiative is crucial. This is a key events role in a busy academic environment, and you will have exceptional organisational and IT skills.
Knowledge and understanding of University processes and previous experience of working in an events/administrative role within a higher education environment would be desirable.
This role is available full or part time between 0.8 to 1.0 FTE - 29.6/37.0 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract. The post is available from the end of May 2026. Secondment applications are welcome with approval from your current line manager prior to applying.
