The University of York’s new Environmental Sustainability Academy at York (ESAY) is seeking a confident communicator, capable of building an excellent network to help build our community of best practice.
ESAY’s vision is to bring together and boost engagement with environmental sustainability activities across the University’s teaching, research, policy impact and campus operations. By doing so, it can help support more impactful sustainability activities and champion new, cross-cutting initiatives.
As an experienced and self-motivated communicator, you will have a passion for how an organisation like the University of York can play its part in creating a more sustainable world, helping protect and maintain environmental resources for generations to come.
You will work on behalf of ESAY, promoting its activities, opportunities and success stories, which will also engage and attract external organisations to partner with the University and increase our impact.
This new position is based within the University’s Communications team, but will work primarily with ESAY stakeholders, and will leverage existing communications and engagement channels across digital (web and social media), internal comms, print, media and events.
You will need to be able to juggle shifting priorities, as well as turn your hand to promoting different kinds of events and activities. You will have multiple audiences and your role will vary; from developing a central communications plan to meet ESAY’s communications objectives, building connections between academics, creating new campaigns to inspire our students to take part in research or volunteering, or identifying the best ways to engage third party organisations to partner with us.
The post-holder needs to reside in the UK and be available to attend regular meetings in York. Hours can be worked flexibly.
Interview date: 18 October
