Research, Innovation & Knowledge Exchange (RIKE) is the Professional Services Directorate responsible for developing and supporting all the University of York’s strategies for research and knowledge exchange, and for providing comprehensive support to York’s academic Departments in their research and impact activities. The Commercialisation Team within RIKE focuses on developing commercial impacts such as new spin-out company formation and commercial licences based on York’s world-leading research across all 3 Faculties.
The main purpose of the Commercialisation Executive role is to proactively identify, assess and evaluate new commercialisation opportunities emerging from the research undertaken in the Faculty of Science in line with stages 1-4 of our Commercialisation Stage Gate process - https://www.york.ac.uk/staff/research/commercialising-research/commercialisation-process/ . Successful opportunities will then be passed to Commercialisation Managers within the team to develop either licence or new spin-out company opportunities. The right candidate may be asked to support some of this activity in line with work demand and personal development requirements. The postholder will be expected to work with research support colleagues from the wider RIKE and Faculty teams to proactively seek new commercialisation opportunities. The post holder will also be the first point of contact for all new enquiries received from the Faculty of Science.
