Following training, you will ensure that cleaning materials and equipment are used in a safe, efficient and cost effective way.
Due to the nature of the work, you will be required to be on your feet for the duration of the shift and must have the ability to carry out significant manual handling duties such as: making beds, carrying linen bundles, use of heavy floor cleaning machinery, using stairs etc.
You should also have the ability to communicate effectively with others and to receive and understand instructions. In addition, you will need to be able to use email and other online systems so that you are able to receive University communications, including e-payslips.
Shift patterns currently available are predominantly 06:00-09:00, Monday-Friday (15 hours per week). We also have 07:00-10:00 Monday-Friday shifts at Kings Manor, Central York (15 hours per week). Please clearly state on your application if you are looking for an alternative shift pattern to this and we can consider you for any future vacancies as they arise.
Shortlisting for these roles takes place on an ongoing basis and you may be asked to attend an interview shortly after we receive your application.
This is a rolling advert and may be closed at any time. Equally, it may be some time before a start date with us is confirmed. With your consent, should you be successful, you would remain on a waiting list until a suitable position becomes available.
Whilst the shifts represent regular working patterns, the positions require the flexibility to work any 5 days out of 7, including weekends when agreed in advance.
