Role Description

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic Coaches to join our Junior Triathlon Coaching team, with a focus on the running / cycling sessions.

The York Sport junior triathlon programme was launched in winter 2018 and offers children aged 8-14 fun sessions in running / cycling / triathlon transitions with additional separate swim sessions. We are looking for coaches to join the coaching team and help us grow our programme further.

The current triathlon sessions run on Mondays and Wednesday evenings from 4.30pm onwards so ideally you will be available at these times. Please note however that this is a casual vacancy so you may not be required to coach every session or every week and coaching hours cannot be guaranteed. Further paid coaching opportunities may also be available during the school holidays should this be of interest.

Essential attributes:

  • A recognised coaching qualification (Triathlon, Cycling or Athletics / Running)

  • A friendly, outgoing personality with a positive can-do attitude.

  • An ability to motivate and enthuse groups of children with energy and enthusiasm.

  • Good behavioural management skills.

  • Excellent organisational, verbal communication and listening skills.

  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.

  • Ability to work in the UK.

Please note a DBS will need to be completed by successful applicants.

Other desirable attributes:

  • Experience of working with young children and / or previous coaching experience.

  • A passion for sport.

The salary will be £12.96 per hour. For more information or to apply, please contact Alex Wormald, Sports Administrator via alex.wormald@york.ac.uk
